What is a typical day like at your workplace?

I get to work at 7:00 am from about 7 to 8:30 I post money or make copies...
at about 8:30 I add up all my checks that I apply money from sometimes that takes anywhere from an hour to two hours. then I start posting again...
at 11:30 I go to lunch.
come back and post more until 5:30 when I leave...

Sounds pretty boring doesn't it...but it's not that bad..I listen to cds all day on my headphones and pretty much just zone out.

Every day is different, depending on what folks bring me and which week of the month it is. That's probably the biggest factor in me staying in this particular job.

Most days I get to work between 6 and 7. I check voice and emails, which usually takes 20 to 30 minutes. I check in with the CFO to see if he needs anything and we chit chat for a few minutes.

From 7:00 until I leave I'm dealing with all the issues that 7 people bring me about how to do their jobs, make sure the receptionist takes her breaks, and answer questions from the Ops folks and the Sales team on the things I do for them. I know that's pretty vague but it can vary from something as specific as why a particular commission amount is low (funny they don't ever tell me I overpaid them) to when and where an invoice was sent to a customer. Around 4:00 I try to pop into my boss' office to check in with him if I haven't seen him all day. At least once I week I go in his office and sit for 30 minutes so we touch base on how things are going. His thought is that if he doesn't hear any complaints about the functions that fall under me, everything is fine.

I attend several meetings per week with Operations, the VP of Sales and Sales Manager, and other folks who work in Accounting with me.

Somewhere between 4:30 and 6:30 I leave except for the 2 days following month end, when I have to run commission numbers.

Generally I work 1-2 Saturdays a month for 6-10 hours each as well, so I can get things done with no interruptions. My boss and I are in negotiation on me having system access from home to eliminate coming in on Saturdays. I'd rather do it from home so I can cook and do laundry simultaneously.

I have more variety in my job than anyone I know and I treasure that greatly. My daughter doesn't feel neglected because I make sure I spend time with her as well.
