Finally.... OUAL Chat :aok:

We are still working out some of the details, but it works!
You use your OUAL username & password to get in.

Currently, registered users can access it... that is one of the things we are working on.

Invite someone to join your current chat room:

You can use the invite command to invite an user to join the room you are chatting in.

For example: /invite Jack

will send a private message to Jack suggesting him to join you in your current chat room. This message contains the name of the target room and this name appears as a link. Note that you can put more than one name in the invite command (eg "/invite Jack,Helen,Alf"). They must be splitted by comma (,) without spaces.

Wow! This is cool!

Oh wait...I think you have to be in another chatroom for you to join me :dunno:

Yeah, it seems that its a PM within the chat system, not a PM to the forum.

I'll see if there is any chance of changing that....

Is there anyway to get it so that people who enter after you can't read messages that were posted before they entered the room?

It's not a big deal, but I got in there and was able to read messages that Lette and a few other people made a good 20+ minutes before I even went into the room. And I'm assuming anyone who goes in after me will read mine.

If it's too much of a PITA to fix, don't worry about it. It's just that now I have to watch what I say and I can't talk crap about anyone, damn it. ;)

Yes, I will put that on the list of things for stagg to look at.

In the meantime, I'd suggest taking anything of a private naturte to a private room. I think yoiu van do that.

One thing we found out last night!!!

Modzilla does not work with it. (it won't refresh)
AOL does not work with it (you can not see the conversation)

Not sure of other browsers but it seems that Internet explorer is one of the only things working with it~

Cool! :aok: If AOL doesn't work with it, I won't be able to use it at home (too much of a pain with slow dial-up anyway), but I can get on occasionally at work. Yay!!! :yippee:

Just used chat tonight. Is there anything that can be done about the time delay? It's kind of annoying. Also if people post pretty quickly after each other, previous posts vanished so quickly that I didn't even have time to read them. That could be my browser though. I am using Opera. It appeared the posts stayed there for about 10 seconds or longer. I though it was a little short.

I use netscape and had the same problem

wouldn't be bad if it was just a delay, but you can't see any posts until you post again

I think that's a browser issue. I use IE and I haven't had that problem.

hmmm I'll have to try IE next time. I kept it on here for things like this that don't do well with netscape. :aok:

I've been using Mozilla Firefox, and it seems to be working well.

I tried using that last week and it wouldn't work Sheila..I don't know if something has changed since then. I will have to try it out when I am at home. I have IE here at work and MF at home and IE at home.
