View Full Version : Diaper Bags?!
MaryNH January 9th, 2004, 07:35 PM What kind of a diaper bag do you carry? Something sleek? Frilly? Or maybe something really unusual? Post here!!!
(I'll bbl to post mine) :) :rahrah: for cool diaper bags!!!!!
Here is one of mine: it is aqua and black and has a 50s retro bowling print on it. I love that era, and I love bowling. So it fit me to a "t". I'm on the hunt for another bag,however....something a bit bigger.

Leslie January 9th, 2004, 07:45 PM I'm embarrased to say it. But I used the free one from the hospital until it basically fell apart. I had bought an expensive toile Gap diaper bag off Ebay and hated it. It wasn't as good a fit for me as the free one was. So when the free one died, I had to find another one. I saw friends buying the I'm Still Me line, but I really don't like any of the fabrics they use. So one day I was in Old Navy and I bought a smaller sized black nylon bag with mesh side pockets. It was inexpensive and actually looks and functions just like a real diaper bag. I am happy with it for now.
SarahK January 9th, 2004, 08:03 PM I have a black Gap diaper bag tote and I really like it...but it doesn't fit in the tiny Peg Perego stroller basket...so I want to buy one of the I'm Still Me knockoffs that are sold on Ebay.
Lette January 9th, 2004, 08:39 PM I desperately need a new diaper bag for 2 kids, so I'm subscribing here.
Pictures too please!
~Jenn January 9th, 2004, 09:05 PM Lette, I'm STILL looking for a diaper bag for the two girls! Can't wait to see pics!
kim January 9th, 2004, 09:41 PM up until a few months ago, i also used the free one from the hospital, and i'm talking the yellow and blue peter rabbit enfamil one . because i'm a working mom, i don't actually use a diaper bag all that much so i didn't really care.
until i saw the 'i'm still me' thread on ub  it was love at first sight. although my bargain basement mind could not come to grips with paying that much for a diaper bag.
so i bought this on ebay for $40. it was a custom job.

but i'm a compulsive ebay browser, and i stumbled on this....the imperial dragonfly fabric!!!! and the auction was ending in just an hour! imagine my joy at stumbling on it! only paid $31 for it.
http://img6.photobucket.com/albums/v16/crazywig/dragonfly_bag.jpg (http://img6.photobucket.com/albums/v16/crazywig/?action=view¤t=dragonfly_bag.jpg)
so the top one was my fall, the dragonfly my winter.....guess who'll be getting more bags come spring?
Jen S January 9th, 2004, 10:35 PM Kim--I love those bags!
These are mine
Kate Spade (mine's the black one, but the size of the red one)

 This was me EXACTLY! I had the SAME nasty free diaper bag. :puke:
TtownAnne January 9th, 2004, 11:28 PM Like Kim, I couldn't fathom paying that much for diaper bags only to have a bottle spill in them or stuff a poopy diaper in them, and I still haven't. I use the green and black Jansport backpack that DH and I took to London for our honeymoon. $40 at the time, but I've used it consistently for more than three years now!
Barb January 10th, 2004, 10:55 AM I have a black Eddie Bauer backpack/diaper bag. I like it - it's simple and easy to carry and not obviously a diaper bag. (BTW, I used the blue and yellow hospital freebie to carry around bottles when Liam was an infant. )
MaryNH January 10th, 2004, 06:10 PM I use the green and black Jansport backpack that DH and I took to London for our honeymoon. ! That's really sentimental :)
Brandi Jo January 10th, 2004, 08:31 PM I have a diaper bag addiction. I probably have about 10 in my stash. My favorites are a blue and white striped seersucker one from the Gap, a black tote with blue trim, and my newest one from ella bags (www.ella-bags.com (http://www.ella-bags.com))

kim January 11th, 2004, 07:13 AM fyi - i saw the baby bargains board recently had a co-op on ella bags and seems they will be doing it again in a few months. you might want to keep your eyes out
Karri January 11th, 2004, 02:23 PM I have a bag similar to Kim's toile one (same seller on ebay), but mine is B&W toile. I love it and it works for our short trips to the dr. office for now, but I do know that I need something bigger once the twins require more crap.
I am very jealous of Jen's Petunia Picklebottom bag....I have been eyeing these up for a year now at my favorite boutique and I still havent shelled out the dough to get one.
MaryNH January 11th, 2004, 02:42 PM I am very jealous of Jen's Petunia Picklebottom bag....I have been eyeing these up for a year now at my favorite boutique and I still havent shelled out the dough to get one. The PPB bags are pretty, but I would worry about staining it...if I had one to stain  Jen, would you mind sharing the care instructions for the PPB?
Emily January 11th, 2004, 03:38 PM I have the little tripper from Land's end and it's good, but not nearly big enough. I also have an Eddie Bauer and while I like it, I wish it had more compartments. I don't like the attached changing pad on any bag, so if I had to do it over again I'd probably go with a different diaper bag. I'm in love with the diaper bags like Brandi and Kim! I am begging for one for my bday, but want the zipper top for sure and have seen only a few on ebay that do that.
~Jenn January 11th, 2004, 04:47 PM I'm loving that PPB bag! It's gorgeous! Actually, I'm loving all of them! :D
kim January 11th, 2004, 05:01 PM I'm in love with the diaper bags like Brandi and Kim! I am begging for one for my bday, but want the zipper top for sure and have seen only a few on ebay that do that.
sally spicer bags zipper! www.sallyspicer.com (http://www.sallyspicer.com) they are expensive though. i have seen irl the sally spicer in the same dragonfly i have, i think the ism bags are a sally knockoff  . it's nice. i think they're about $90.
Eva January 11th, 2004, 07:18 PM I just have a boring Graco backpack. I am trying to find something smaller to use when we have the stroller since mine always gets stuck when tryig to get it in or out the stroller's storage basket. So far they are all too big or too small.
cimberdog January 11th, 2004, 10:00 PM Like my stroller addiction, I also have a diaper bag addiction...Although I think I am set for now.
I have:
Lands End Little Tripper
Lands End Backpack
Lands End Deluxe (LOVE this for weekend travel)
I'm Still Me sz Large blue summer stripe
I'm Still Me XL Imperial dragonfly
I use the ISM XL bag every day and I really like it!

Shanna January 12th, 2004, 09:38 AM Subscribing. I have a diaper bag addiction as well.
I have:
Yellow/Black Eddie Bauer diaper bag
Navy Blue backpack diaper bag (not sure of the brand off the top of my head)
Matching denim totes with the girl's names monogrammed on them
Matching pink backpack bags (not sure of the brand)
I also bought the pattern for one, and have the fabric, just haven't had the time to make it yet. It will be red ticking stripe and similar to the ISM bags. Can't afford a real one right now
JillMelissa January 12th, 2004, 09:49 AM I have 3 diaper bags right now:
My plain old everyday Eddie Bauer backpack, which is great now that Emily is out of her infant seat - when I'm carrying her in my arms, I have both arms free with the backpack.
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005RH5J.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
For overnight/long day trips, this Eddie Bauer messenger bag:
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005NKXU.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg
and for dressier occasions (or, when I'm wearing black and feel like carrying it! ) a pretty toile tote smiliar to this one:
http://i5.ebayimg.com/01/i/00/f1/d6/54_1.JPG
kim January 12th, 2004, 10:16 AM i have the messenger bag too. i only used it when tony was an infant and i brought the kitchen sink with me everywhere . it holds a ton of stuff! plus dh would carry it since it's not flowery.
Brandi Jo January 12th, 2004, 10:40 AM Emily: Ella-bags offers a zipper option..and you can get a basic bag starting at around $45.00. Just an FYI :)
olcott January 12th, 2004, 10:52 AM I have a black Eddie Bauer backpack/diaper bag. I like it - it's simple and easy to carry and not obviously a diaper bag. (BTW, I used the blue and yellow hospital freebie to carry around bottles when Liam was an infant. )
Thats exactly what I have too, only mine is a silver-ish gray....
I must have missed out on the yellow and blue freebie, cause I got an awful purple and blue one instead  Its stuck in a box somewhere I'm sure

SarahK January 12th, 2004, 02:36 PM Who is the ebay seller some of you got your bags from??
Jen S January 12th, 2004, 02:49 PM The PPB bags are pretty, but I would worry about staining it...if I had one to stain  Jen, would you mind sharing the care instructions for the PPB?I will, when the bag arrives (the store I purchased from had to special order the bag for me because they were sold out of the color I wanted). I am anxiously awaiting its arrival!
kim January 12th, 2004, 02:59 PM Who is the ebay seller some of you got your bags from??
i got my dragonfly bag from kodibear158 http://stores.ebay.com/id=58454193
and my toile from farmersgirltoo http://stores.ebay.com/id=45379220
Julie January 12th, 2004, 03:25 PM Here is my ISM knock-off, in the infamous dragonfly fabric :)
It is my the same woman that Kim just mentioned, farmersgirltoo.

SarahK January 12th, 2004, 04:21 PM For those who bought diaperbags from farmersgirltoo, what size did you get? I'm eyeing one that she calls "small to medium"...I want one that will fit in the basket of my Venezia, but that will still hold what I need for Katie.
Karri January 12th, 2004, 06:08 PM For those who bought diaperbags from farmersgirltoo, what size did you get? I'm eyeing one that she calls "small to medium"...I want one that will fit in the basket of my Venezia, but that will still hold what I need for Katie.
I think mine was considered large. It was pretty much the same dimensions as the large one that I'm Still Me made.
Large would DEFINATELY fit in your basket. They are smaller than they seem. Small/Medium wouldnt really hold anything, IMO.
Lyndee January 12th, 2004, 07:22 PM up until a few months ago, i also used the free one from the hospital, and i'm talking the yellow and blue peter rabbit enfamil one . because i'm a working mom, i don't actually use a diaper bag all that much so i didn't really care.
That's me too! I'm feeling not so stylish after seeing all these pretty bags! I have actually never bought a real diaper bag. I received a transparent backpack from one of our daycare companies and I ended up liking it a lot more than an traditional diaper bag so I bought another one like it with more pockets. I do get asked often where I got the bag from because it's just so "smart and practical" as one Gymboree mom said. I got it at the grocery store during back to school week!
tara1007 January 13th, 2004, 07:00 PM I am lucky my mom works for Coach and I have 3 different Coach diaper bags. I think all in all she paid about 50.00 for all three and they are sold in the store for over 600.00 total in store. One is a back pack styler and the other are totes. I love them

Lucky girl! Let us know if your mom ever wants to buy some for us at a discount
tara1007 January 15th, 2004, 07:02 PM I will keep it in mind she always gets to go to scrap sales which you would never know they are considered scrap, i will have to see what she has that she doesnt use, she has a entire coach closet. plus she can get 65-70% off otherwise!! (they are limited on monthly purchaes) but it is the best!

Brandi Jo January 16th, 2004, 10:39 AM Oh, I like that courdoroy one...it just looks so winter-y though. I'm in the market for something spring like
kim January 16th, 2004, 10:57 AM brandi - there's always NEXT winter  i am liking the striped one.
i need something for dh....you won't believe it but he has taken my toile tote out in public! without me! just him, tony, and his girly bag
Leslie January 16th, 2004, 11:25 AM i need something for dh....you won't believe it but he has taken my toile tote out in public! without me! just him, tony, and his girly bag
:rotflmao: Now that's a man who is comfortable in his manhood. (Or else just too lazy to move all the contents of the toile diaper bag into a different one.)
AahRee January 16th, 2004, 12:07 PM I have the summer stripe one Kelly posted, but mine is an XL. And Kim, my DH has taken it out without me, too! Eventhough we have TWO Gap backpacks he can use as diaper bags, and a black messenger bag!
I'm really coveting a Sally Spicer or Petunia Picklebottoms bag. I know that you can do co-ops with SS, but PPB won't let you do one unless you have an actual storefront. Otherwise, I'd try to set one up! I really want the PPB toddler tote. The boxy backpack is probably too big for me, since I'm thinking (hoping!) Katie will be potty training soon. :)
JillMelissa January 16th, 2004, 04:19 PM Oh my lord, my DH would stuff diapers, formula, and a burp cloth down the front of his pants and carry them around that way before he would carry my toile bag!
Brandi Jo January 16th, 2004, 04:22 PM Will would think nothing of picking up a toile bag and carrying it. He's just oblivious to stuff like that.
Since I am selling cloth diapers via the web, I will have a "storefront" in a few weeks...Hmm..PPB co-op? maybe??
Brooke January 16th, 2004, 04:47 PM I just bought this one from one of the sellers Kim posted. I hope I like it!
http://i15.ebayimg.com/01/i/01/2d/ce/83_1.JPG
Faye January 16th, 2004, 04:54 PM I have never really like diaper bags much so I used one for a very short time with my daughter, well until she was off the bottles. Here is my daughter Emily's backpack. I have used this since last summer, I guess since she was around 14 months old :) I bought a personalized one for my son at the same age and I wanted to do the same for her. I love it. Works great at preschool because they can obviously tell which one is her's :lol2:
AahRee January 16th, 2004, 05:48 PM Will would think nothing of picking up a toile bag and carrying it. He's just oblivious to stuff like that.
Since I am selling cloth diapers via the web, I will have a "storefront" in a few weeks...Hmm..PPB co-op? maybe??
Unfortunately, it can't be an online storefront, it has to be a brick and mortar store. :( Otherwise, that would be a GREAT idea!!!
Brandi Jo January 16th, 2004, 06:45 PM well, darnit!
Amy January 16th, 2004, 07:03 PM Brooke, I am in love with that pink toile and black gingham!! How perfect for spring!! Hmmm...I may have to email DH the link and tell him it would make a great Valentine's gift, or an early gift for having Molly. Off to see what else she has available...my dream would be to get a matching cosmetic type case to hold lipgloss, powder and Tums.
I currently have 2 diaper bags I alternate between. For everyday and all day trips, I carry the Gap backpack diaper bag (Jenn, I still love it!!) and it will be so convenient with two. It holds plenty of stuff, and my only 'complaint' is that it isn't quite feminine enough to go with some of my dressier stuff, like for church and that. If I'm not going to be out during mealtime or for very long, I have an Eddie Bauer small diaper bag that holds diapers, wipes, sippy, and my wallet...perfect for church or a quick trip to the store.
I used to be addicted to purses, and haven't bought one in about 18 months...no wonder I'm drooling over that toile tote!!
JillMelissa January 16th, 2004, 09:22 PM Brooke, I love love love that bag!
Amy January 17th, 2004, 03:17 PM OK, I am definitely obsessing over diaper bags now...Brooke, is that fabric the Central Park pattern? I've been doing searches for toile diaper bags, and there are so many fabrics I like!! I want a girly pink diaper bag for spring, and I love toile....I know how I am, and I won't be satisfied until I have one.
at least diaper bag obsessions are cheaper than strollers...but I could easily become stroller obsessed too!! DH just won't let me!
Brooke January 18th, 2004, 07:04 PM Brooke, is that fabric the Central Park pattern?
I don't know... I got it from http://stores.ebay.com/id=45379220
She's got the same bag up again as Buy it now for $49.95. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2373924105&category=15558
You can also customize a bag with her. Mine is shipping on Monday so I'll have it sometime next week. I'll let you know how I like it.
Amy January 18th, 2004, 09:38 PM Thanks!! Yes, that is the central park fabric...I've been doing searches on ebay for toile diaper bags, and that's my favorite pattern. I wonder if they are machine washable? I'm sure they are, but I'd bet she recommends washing on delicate or something...
Please come back and let me/us know how you like it!! I definitely want one, now just to decide on the pattern!
cimberdog January 18th, 2004, 10:01 PM OK this weekend I saw both the PP bags and the Fleureville bags in person. I am not a PP diaper bag person - not my style. But the Fleureville bags...I found a pattern I really love and want so badly to buy it! It's like $100+ though. I could have another stroller for that price .....
~Jenn January 18th, 2004, 10:24 PM I'm SO glad I'm not the only one with this addiction! I've been wanting a new bag for awhile now, and just can't decide!
I have a green/sage toile one from the same seller, and it's great (although, I admit, the toile isn't quite for me, and I'm trying to sell it!)...she makes great stuff! I want something with stripes!
Amy, I'm thrilled that you still like it! That's great!
Brooke January 18th, 2004, 10:32 PM (although, I admit, the toile isn't quite for me, and I'm trying to sell it)Yeah, I'm not really a toile person either...not really into pink...why did I buy that one again? I just wanted something more feminine than the hunter green thing I've been carrying forever.
~Jenn January 18th, 2004, 10:49 PM They are beautiful though Brooke...come spring, if mine's still around, I'm sure I'll be using it!
Colleen January 19th, 2004, 12:43 PM Wow! I just read through this whole thread (and the Ultimate bag thread on UB) and I must say I am hooked! I was going to get a LE backpack diaper bag for when #2 comes, but these are soooo sooo soo much cuter and fun!
Have you seen the bags from this seller on Ebay?:
http://www.stores.ebay.com/janinekingdesigns/plistings/list/all/dept0/page4.html?dir=-1&col=2&sotimedisplay=2
I am in love with about 3 prints, but I emailed her to see if she could custom make one with longer straps, since I like a longer strap length.
Also, she gave dimensions as 14X11.5 by 5...if anyone could measure their bags in comparison to see the size I would appreciate it. :)
Thanks!!!!

THe one I bought is quoted as being "11" tall,,,,14 1/2" wide,,,,5 1/2" deep...straps are 1 1/4" wide and have a 12" drop.. "
Pretty close to the same.

Do you feel like it's roomy enough? I want to use this for Avery and the new baby. Some things I won't need duplicates of...like wipes, diaper cream, pad, etc, but for a while I'll have bottles, sippys, 2 diape sizes, etc.
I want it to be my "out and about bag." I currently have the Land's End Little tripper for this. The Land's End "do it all" I also have but I consider it to be too big for out and about.

Just to let you know, she will do custom orders and charge the BIN price, which is not bad. The price depends on the fabric.
olcott January 19th, 2004, 04:59 PM Oooh...I really like some of those too :D I think a few of those may go on my Valentine's Day gift idea list :)

Amy January 19th, 2004, 05:36 PM Chris, I told Darrell last night I wanted one of these for Valentine's Day, and he started getting all depressed!! "What's happened to us? The romance is GONE!!" He was laughing about it, but I kinda see his point....nothing real romantic about a diaper bag for a Valentine's gift!
Since I want one NOW anyway, I told him it could be my present for the one year anniversary of becoming a mommy. That's this Friday!! hee hee hee

Isaiah's Momma January 19th, 2004, 06:40 PM I have a Baby Inovations bag that I paid about $15 for (I had a $5 off coupon) at BRU. Its really dark navy blue (almost black) and his a neat zip down front panel with littl pockets for all the little things I carry, plus a few large pockets inside and on the sides and 2 zip up pockets out side. It has a nylon lining (not vinal) that is antimicrobial. Its perfect for me as I use it as a purse too. Oh and it has a key clip in one pocket and a small clip on paci holder (that I use when I have a roll or film to develop). I ll have to take some pictures.
AahRee January 20th, 2004, 12:00 AM Mary, that red bag is gorgeous! Where did you get it?
Colleen, I checked that link out, and the pink poodle one is so fun! Katie has a pink poodle that she made at Build-A-Bear, and I kept thinking how fun it would be to get her that bag to carry her *Lulu* in!
~Jenn January 20th, 2004, 08:06 AM LOVE the red!

Would you believe I gave Jeff 3 choices, including the pink poodle, and he picked the pink poodle??? He said he can't believe he'll have to carry a pink bag. I told him the LE will still be available (which is lavendar and he still carries it. :rotflmao:

Brooke January 20th, 2004, 11:02 AM Do you feel like it's roomy enough? I want to use this for Avery and the new baby. Some things I won't need duplicates of...like wipes, diaper cream, pad, etc, but for a while I'll have bottles, sippys, 2 diape sizes, etc..
I haven't gotten it yet. It was mailed yesterday.
Colleen January 20th, 2004, 02:06 PM I haven't gotten it yet. It was mailed yesterday.
Can you please report in when you get it? :)

Colleen January 20th, 2004, 07:31 PM Col - did you get the pink poodles with the pink burberry? I sooooo want pink burberry fabric!
That is the one I am getting. :) If you want the bag to be all burberry, I think she can do it as a custom. Email her. She responds in minutes.
AahRee January 20th, 2004, 07:39 PM I'm SOOO tempted to get that bag. I have to have some restraint until next month, but maybe it can be my Valentine's gift from DH....
Lette January 21st, 2004, 09:51 AM What do you gals think of this bag? I'm a backpack girl since I've got 2 kids, I need 2 hands free at all times. Not to mention a sore shoulder that acts up from time to time.

Nocona January 21st, 2004, 10:04 AM I have my eye on a diaper bag in the same fabric, Lette. If you are a backpack type of gal, I say go for it :aok:
Lette January 21st, 2004, 10:10 AM I have my eye on a diaper bag in the same fabric, Lette. If you are a backpack type of gal, I say go for it :aok:
I hope your ebay user name isn't "OVERTHEBORDER" She's already got a bid in on this bag!
I certainly wouldn't want to bid against a fellow OUALer.
Nocona January 21st, 2004, 10:14 AM Nope, I'm looking at a zippered diaper bag, but the auction doesn't end until Sunday so I'm waiting it out. Get her!
kim January 21st, 2004, 10:30 AM i love that fabric  although i'd worry about those little strings digging into my shoulders if the bag was too heavy.
Brooke January 21st, 2004, 10:39 AM i love that fabric  although i'd worry about those little strings digging into my shoulders if the bag was too heavy.
I agree. Maybe ask if one can be made with wider straps instead of stings. I know my diaper bag gets pretty heavy for just one kiddo.
Nichole January 21st, 2004, 11:12 AM Ooh, that fabric is gorgeous! What is the seller's name for that one? I think I'd like a zippered tote in that as well.
Lette January 21st, 2004, 11:15 AM i love that fabric  although i'd worry about those little strings digging into my shoulders if the bag was too heavy.
Good Point!
Here's what she says....
Double black cord straps are 30" long when bag is closed. We use a top of the line, very tightly woven round nylon cord 1/4" wide and 2000 lb test! Made to last. This is not your typical flimsy apparel weight draw cord!
I may have to try it anyway if the price is right. Heck then I can get another pattern if I need to special order one.
Lette January 21st, 2004, 11:17 AM Ooh, that fabric is gorgeous! What is the seller's name for that one? I think I'd like a zippered tote in that as well. Are you sure you want to bid against Nocona???
I think she has her eye on the zippered one. :) See quote below...

diaper bag addiction is contagious!!! i'm already looking for a spring bag!

Nichole January 21st, 2004, 12:02 PM Hey now! I wasn't planning on bidding against you, Nocona! I'm just shocked (shocked, I tell you!) that you think I would do such a thing. :tongue2:
I just wanted to know the seller's name so that I could see if she could make me one, too.
Nocona January 21st, 2004, 12:19 PM suuuuuuuure
I won't bid if it gets too high (I've consulted Kim on proper values), so you can probably have it as I'm cheap :)
BTW -- I guess this proves that you have taste
Lette January 21st, 2004, 01:05 PM I won't bid if it gets too high (I've consulted Kim on proper values), so you can probably have it as I'm cheap :)
Okay I need to know... are these "proper values" common knowledge, or is it a private thing?
I tend to get caught up in these things and I end up bidding higher than I wanted.
kim January 21st, 2004, 01:20 PM i told her i would personally not pay more than $40 for a diaper tote bag....somehow that makes me the authority
Brooke January 21st, 2004, 01:55 PM i told her i would personally not pay more than $40 for a diaper tote bag....somehow that makes me the authority
I paid $49.95 for mine but it comes with a matching changing pad. It was a BIN only auction.
Brandi Jo January 21st, 2004, 02:02 PM I paid between $30 and $50 for most of mine. Generally, the backpacks go a little higher. Not sure why.
I LOVE that yellow fabric...spring bag..maybe...
Actually, my mom, knowing my addiction to diaper bags, bought a pattern and is making me a patchwork one out of fat quarters! I can't wait until she gets it done..and for about $10! WHOO HOO!
Lette January 21st, 2004, 02:08 PM i told her i would personally not pay more than $40 for a diaper tote bag....somehow that makes me the authority

Jenn January 21st, 2004, 02:20 PM I've been following this thread and read the one at UB also. I think I may have to break down and buy one. I really like those zippered bags!
Right now I have a small Eddie Bauer that I'm sick of and I had bought another diaper bag by Innovations (?) about a year ago but I never use it anymore because it's just too big. Both of the bags are navy blue and DH friendly so I think he'd pitch a fit if he had to carry a frilly bag.
Nichole January 21st, 2004, 06:12 PM BTW -- I guess this proves that you have taste :lol:What, you doubted my taste?! *tsk*
I would like to see the inside of those bags before I buy one. Do they hold a lot of crap? Would I be able to use it for two kiddos you think?
Amy January 21st, 2004, 06:45 PM Nichole, that's my current dilemma...I'm desperately wanting a toile bag, I think they just look so springy and girly!! The ones I checked on ebay did have pics of the interior, and they look spacious. I'll be carrying diapers in 2 sizes, plus wipes, desitin, stuff for a newborn and stuff for my 15 month old, not to mention my wallet/cell phone/keys!
I'm now trying to decide on a pattern...I showed them to DH today, because he just didn't get what 'toile' was, and he said if it's what I really want, then OK with him! :) He just thinks it's a weird Valentine's gift!
Brooke January 21st, 2004, 09:06 PM These are from Kelli's post on page 2, just for reference as to size and stuff. Looks like there's alot of stuff in there.
This is the I'm Still Me size Large summer stripe bag:

Nocona January 21st, 2004, 09:40 PM Kim's my authority on lots of things
Nichole -- it says 4 large pockets -- 7X7 each. Not sure if that's big enough for 2 kids in diapers though  Probably, but not for an all day kinda bag.
Nichole January 21st, 2004, 10:19 PM Is Kelli's the same dimensions as the one we're looking at? I'm thinking it probably wouldn't be great as an all day bag, either. But short trips might not be too bad, huh?
Nocona January 21st, 2004, 10:28 PM hmm looks like hers has 2 big and 4 small pockets. I think it would be a great mall trip/grocery store kinda bag for sure :aok:
Brandi Jo January 22nd, 2004, 08:15 AM mine has 6 pcokets around the interior, and does hold all of Riley's junk, plus my cell, wallet, keys, etc etc, and about 3 cloth diapers, which are uber bulky in a diaper bag. I wouldn't use it as an all day out bag, but it serves the purpose for my every day bag.
Colleen January 22nd, 2004, 09:22 AM I'm looking for it to be my everyday bag too. I need something bigger than my Land's End Little Tripper, but smaller than the Land's End do it all. The DIA does not fit in any of my stroller baskets. I'm hoping this bag will be a nice compromise in size.
Colleen January 22nd, 2004, 09:23 AM What do you gals think of this bag? I'm a backpack girl since I've got 2 kids, I need 2 hands free at all times. Not to mention a sore shoulder that acts up from time to time.

Lette, when I was searching for bags, I found the backpack ones by her first, and really liked them! :) I think they look so cool and hip! :)
Colleen January 22nd, 2004, 09:24 AM Hey - the dragonfly one comes in yellow, too!

Oooh pretty! I wonder if Jeff would like that better than the pink poodle?
Brandi Jo January 22nd, 2004, 10:12 AM My ella-bag fits nicely in the basket of my Peg Venezia
~Jenn January 22nd, 2004, 01:42 PM Lette, do the backpacks have pockets or anything to help keep you organized?
Lette January 22nd, 2004, 01:47 PM Jenn I think there are 2 pockets inside along with the 2 pockets outside.
I wish she would have posted pictures of the INSIDES of her bags!
Brooke January 23rd, 2004, 07:33 PM Ok...I got my bag! Yay!
I think I'm going to like it. It's very lightweight so it won't weigh a ton when it's full.
Here it is next to what I've been carrying. Please ignore my bed. My dog tears it up every day while we're gone.

Jenn January 23rd, 2004, 07:48 PM Oh, Brooke I really like it! Which seller did you buy it from?
Brooke January 23rd, 2004, 10:03 PM Oh, Brooke I really like it! Which seller did you buy it from?
Her name is farmersgirltoo. Here's a link to her ebay store.
http://www.stores.ebay.com/id=45379220&ssPageName=L2
Amy January 23rd, 2004, 10:33 PM I really like that!!
I think I've decided on mine...I want one of the Ella bags, and it looks like I can get it cheaper on ebay than from ella-bags.com. They are $35.00 (or $50 BIN) on ebay, but $55 on the actual site. However, on the site, I can also get a changing pad for $20 and a makeup/cosmetic case for $15 to drop into the diaper bag....both of which I would really use. Now just to order it finally!!
Hilary January 24th, 2004, 01:52 AM Ok, my bag is almost exactly like Brooke's, I got it from the same seller on Ebay.
here's a picture.
http://i17.ebayimg.com/02/i/01/35/c5/e8_1.JPG
But I cannot get more than 2 diapers to fit in the big pocket!! What's the trick? Maybe I use fat diapers?
I also think the straps are too short. I can't put it over my shoulder unless I'm not wearing a coat. It was a pain in the ass when we were traveling over Christmas, but it's ok at home because I never wear a coat here.
Brandi Jo January 24th, 2004, 08:52 AM Amy, if you get the bag on ebay, I'm almost positive that you can add a change pad and a makeup case and she will combine shipping. :)
Brooke, your new bag is gorgeous! I love the color combo. I want a pink bag so bad!
AahRee January 24th, 2004, 11:29 AM Brooke and Hilary ~ your bags are gorgeous! I really love the pink toile, Brooke. I SO want a pink bag!!!
Brooke January 24th, 2004, 04:53 PM But I cannot get more than 2 diapers to fit in the big pocket!! What's the trick? Maybe I use fat diapers?
Or maybe I use extra-flat ones? I don't know! I can fit more than 4 in the pocket easily. Maybe she changed the pocket sizes? The ones in my bad are huge.:dunno:
~Jenn January 24th, 2004, 09:28 PM Beautiful bags, Hilary and Brooke! I want a pink bag too!
Amy, what's her ebay name?
~Jenn January 24th, 2004, 09:37 PM I found the ella-bag site...and I LOVE them! I love the new spring fabrics! Amy, what size are you getting? Anyone else with an Ella bag? Size?
Brandi Jo January 25th, 2004, 09:47 AM I'll post my bag again, this is the Elaine size. It holds everything pretty good, and I can get, usually 3 fuzzi bunz in it. I think if I were going to get one for two kids, and used cloth diapers (Jenn) I would probably spend the extra money and get the Lily size. JMO
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b4df24b3127cce85cccb3853940000001510
cimberdog January 25th, 2004, 11:34 AM My ISM bag fits ALOT of stuff. The size large had in it the following:
diapers
wipes
changing pad
dirties pouch
cell phone
toys
bottle
sippy
change of clothes for Sam
diaper cream
jar of food
spoon
blanket (receiving size)
And more I cannot remember
I did decide to also buy an ISM Extra Large bag because I pack for all occasions, meaning that my diaper bag always has EVERYTHING I would need for a full day out and about. I use the ISM XL bag every day, and I truly love it. I wish the straps were a little longer for me, but other than that I have no complaints. I bought the drangonfly print for the XL bag, and I love all the pockets.
I have also found that because I carry so many things that grouping similar items in a Ziploc and then putting the bag in one of the pocket is the way to go for me.
~Jenn January 25th, 2004, 12:58 PM Brandi, thanks for reposting it! I LOVE it! I *thought* you had one, but wasn't posivtive! What kind of closure do you have? Was yours custom? I'm having trouble deciding, they have such nice fabrics!
Kelli, thanks! You can fit a lot of stuff in there!
Amy January 25th, 2004, 02:05 PM Jenn, the one I'm looking at is here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3454805629&category=15730 and it's listed by ella-bags. On ebay it says $35, but on their website the diaper bag is $55!! I'm pretty sure I want the pink Central Park toile, with the raspberry striped bottom, and maybe a simple ribbon trim (I don't care for the fringey stuff). Dh told me to order it whenever I finally make a choice!!
Brandi, thanks for reposting the picture...you said you would recommend the Lily for 2 kids? What about if I don't CD? I really like the size on the Elaine, but I would hate to spend the money getting one and it turns out to be too small for a 15 month old and a newborn.
Brandi Jo January 25th, 2004, 02:21 PM Mine was custom. Will got it for me for Christmas (WTG!!) It has a zip closure and a key loop. I'm not sure if it would be big enough for me with 2 kids, but I'm a pack rat and tend to take everything but the kitchen sink. Right now, I have in mine, for just Riley (14 mos) And I am going to list everything, even the tiny details to give you the amount of stuff!
pampers wipe case
3 fuzzi bunz
fuzzibunz wet bag
extra clothes
infant tylenol
moisturizing face stick
orajel
tupperware container, med size and flat
avent cup
2 bibsters
2 tabletoppers
my wallet(checkbook size)
my cell
sunglasses (mine and Ri's)
small makeup bag
inhaler
wallet size picture holder
That's all that is in there right now, and there is plenty of room left...maybe it would be okay for 2 kids.
Sorry, I'm not much help
Amy January 25th, 2004, 02:34 PM Brandi, that is a HUGE help...I know the Elaine would work for me!
Here's what I carry for Emily (age 1)
3-4 diapers (disposables, so quite flat)
huggies wipes case
desitin
gallon size ziploc baggie for dirty diapers
2-3 burp cloths
1-2 sippy cups (2 if going out to eat)
2 small gerber plastic fruit cups, one for goldfish and one for cheerios
bib/spoon (if going out to eat)
2 baby food jars (if going out to eat)
wallet/lipstick/cell phone
suction cup toy for the table/stroller tray
I don't carry extra outfits anymore, but I probably should...Emily was never a spit-uppy baby, but who knows about #2!
~Jenn January 25th, 2004, 09:04 PM Man...I underpack!
Brandi, I'm impressed that Will got you that for Christmas! That's an AWESOME choice! Mike would never, ever do that (I love him dearly, but, well...I'd be afraid! )!
~Jenn January 25th, 2004, 09:09 PM BTW, Amy, that's a great bag! Are you going to get it monogramed?
Amy January 25th, 2004, 09:28 PM I don't think so...I'm not into monograms much, and I just love the look of the plain toile. This was going to be my Valentine's gift from DH, but he said he has no idea what to order me, so for me to order it myself and he'll get me something on his own....what a sweetie!
I emailed Ella Bags from ebay, but won't get a response until business hours tomorrow...I can't wait!!
Nocona January 25th, 2004, 09:50 PM I won, I won!! :yippee:
Here's my new bag! I can't wait to get it :)

I'll take pics of the inside when I get it, Nichole, so you'll know if it will work for you :aok:
Lette January 25th, 2004, 09:50 PM Darn! Darn! Darn! I lost the bag I wanted! :bawl:'

The fricken power went out here for over an hour (auction ended at 9:40PM) and I couldn't go in and raise my max bid! Someone got it for $43!
I JUST now got my computer fired back up and running! !!!!
 I am so bummed .. I wanted this one pretty bad.
Nocona January 25th, 2004, 09:53 PM That sucks, Lette! Our power was out earlier, luckily it came back on for me to see that someone had outbid my max bid earlier. I won it for $39!
Brooke January 25th, 2004, 09:57 PM Man...I underpack!
Me too!
The older Rebekah gets, the less I pack. I packed my new bag for a trip to the mall last night and it wasn't even 1/2 full!
Brooke January 25th, 2004, 09:58 PM Darn! Darn!

Lette - that sucks!
Watch the auctions. I'll bet the same bag comes back up in the next few days. The same bag as mine was up the next day.
kim January 26th, 2004, 08:36 AM i always use a snipe when bidding  so i don't even really have to watch the auction.
www.auctionstealer.com (http://www.auctionstealer.com)
Brandi Jo January 26th, 2004, 08:42 AM I only pack that much stuff, cause the instant that I don't....he will need something that I didn't put in there. Happens every time!!
Nice bag, Nocona!
Sorry that you didn't win yours, Lette :( But like Brooke said, it'll probably be back on the site tomorrow...if not today.
Brooke January 26th, 2004, 09:01 AM i always use a snipe when bidding  so i don't even really have to watch the auction.

Lette = this is what I was talking about in your pillow thread.
Lette January 26th, 2004, 10:16 AM Thanks Girls! :hug1:
I'm so bummed about losing. AND I checked today... she has new bags up, but not this exact one. :bawl: Guess I'll wait and see.
May have to check into that auctionstealer!
Colleen January 26th, 2004, 10:59 AM Congrats on winning your bag Nocona! I'll be interested in seeing those inside pics too. :) I also might ask you to stuff it and see what you can get in there
Lette: You can email her and ask her if she's got any more in that pattern to auction. My guess is she will. I've emailed her twice, and both times she has gotten back to me within minutes.
Lette January 26th, 2004, 11:03 AM Lette: You can email her and ask her if she's got any more in that pattern to auction. My guess is she will. I've emailed her twice, and both times she has gotten back to me within minutes.Hey.. good Idea Colleen...I'm off! :)
Lette January 26th, 2004, 11:30 AM Can you girls believe I got a response already! :)

I told you she was quick. Lette, if you want the bag that badly, email her about custom ordering...she charges the BIN price (since you planned on paying that anyway, :awink: and she can make changes for you, like the straps or whatever.) I am custom ordering my bag with longer straps, and she is charging me the BIN price. Just a thought.
Nocona January 26th, 2004, 12:13 PM I'll be happy to stuff all kinds of things in there  Hopefully I'll get it this week! I need to go check my e-mail to see if she's sent me a message yet since I paid late last night.
Amy January 26th, 2004, 02:07 PM Lette, that's awesome that she'll be relisting it soon, and I love Colleen's idea about doing a custom order to make sure you get it quicker!
Nocona, I love your bag!! can't wait to see interior pics!
Nichole January 26th, 2004, 03:19 PM I won, I won!! :yippee:
Here's my new bag! I can't wait to get it :)
http://images.andale.com/f2/102/129/8675236/1066284054891_Dfly_Ladybug.JPG
I'll take pics of the inside when I get it, Nichole, so you'll know if it will work for you :aok:
:woo: Congrats!
Cool, thanks Nocona! :)
AahRee January 26th, 2004, 05:01 PM CUTE new bag, Nocona!!! (BTW... I saw your name on a bumper sticker just the other day! )
Nocona January 26th, 2004, 05:15 PM was it on the back of a beat up truck?
kim January 26th, 2004, 05:32 PM or pasted in the men's toilet somewhere?
Lissa January 26th, 2004, 11:19 PM My Ella bag arrived today. I like it. It is a little small, but nice for short trips. I have to send it back because the zipper is awful to zip up. They are supposed to fix it quickly.
After looking at how they made it, I decided to try to make one tonight that was a little bit bigger. Here is what happened....(The first bag is the Ella bag, the second is of the bag I made.)
AahRee January 27th, 2004, 12:52 AM was it on the back of a beat up truck?
As a matter of fact... Not that this town isn't FULL of beat up trucks, but that was the first one I'd seen with a Nocona bumper sticker. HOW did your parents happen to name you after a cowboy boot?
AahRee January 27th, 2004, 12:55 AM or pasted in the men's toilet somewhere?
*I* haven't been in the men's toilet lately... have YOU seen it there? :rotflmao: :angeldevi
Leslie January 27th, 2004, 01:01 AM Nice job Lissa! :)
kim January 27th, 2004, 08:11 AM lissa that looks great, how hard was it? (not that i sew  )
~Jenn January 27th, 2004, 08:20 AM I agree, it looks great, Lissa!
Lette January 27th, 2004, 08:25 AM Lissa! Looks Awesome!
Care to make me one in the Ladybug/Dragonfly pattern. just kidding
Nocona January 27th, 2004, 11:29 AM HOW did your parents happen to name you after a cowboy boot?
My dad's a hick. My mom wanted to name me Crystal Dawn :puke:
Dang, Lissa! You just whipped that together?!
Lissa January 27th, 2004, 11:46 AM Thanks, girls! It wasn't very difficult -- after we figured out how in the heck they did the bottom part. DH and I had a 20 minute brainstorm with paper towels and tape trying to recreate the bottom of the bag. It was really funny. After that, it took about 3 hours (including me cooking, eating and bathing Alex) to finish it. I suspect the next one will go mush faster. I'd be happy to pass along the way I did it. The sewing part was easy. I did break a needle going too fast through the thick handle/top part. :)
Amy January 27th, 2004, 11:57 AM Lissa, that looks awesome!!
Nichole January 27th, 2004, 11:58 AM Wow, Lissa! I'm very impressed! You could start your own little business on the side! :aok:
harmonielyn January 27th, 2004, 01:38 PM Do you remember the measurements on your bag? It looks like a good size for me but im trying to decide before I buy one.
Ok...I got my bag! Yay!
I think I'm going to like it. It's very lightweight so it won't weigh a ton when it's full.
Here it is next to what I've been carrying. Please ignore my bed. My dog tears it up every day while we're gone.

Brooke January 27th, 2004, 01:47 PM Do you remember the measurements on your bag? It looks like a good size for me but im trying to decide before I buy one.The ebay listing said - "11" tall,,,,14 1/2" wide,,,,5 1/2" deep...straps are 1 1/4" wide and have a 12" drop.. "
harmonielyn January 27th, 2004, 02:10 PM I have a little girl so Im really starting to like pink. But I also like the plain black one too. So I need some opinions.
Which bag?
A. black and pink
http://i19.ebayimg.com/01/i/01/38/ab/ac_1.JPG
B. black and white
http://i12.ebayimg.com/01/i/01/38/a9/e7_1.JPG
Amy January 27th, 2004, 02:23 PM I'd go with the bag that is most versatile with your wardrobe. I was all set on getting the pink & black one like Brooke's, until I saw an all pink one at ella-bags.com (pink toile with a pink & cream striped bottom), and then I fell in love with the dragonfly print with a red gingham bottom. Goodness knows I can't afford THREE diaper bags, so I'm just waiting to see which one will fit my personality the best...and I do that by visualizing me with each one. Silly, maybe, but it'll make sure that I'm happy with the one I finally order!!
Amy January 27th, 2004, 02:24 PM on a somewhat related note...I emailed ella-bags on Sunday asking about the trims and pricing for the diaper tote. I got an auto response back saying they would respond during business hours on Monday, and still nothing!! I'm about to say forget them just based on their lack of response....
harmonielyn January 27th, 2004, 02:34 PM I was thinking the same thing about wardrobe. I dont have anything pink. Black and white goes with everything.
Brooke January 27th, 2004, 02:43 PM I was thinking the same thing about wardrobe. I dont have anything pink. Black and white goes with everything.
The one I have is pink but it's a very pale pink toile. I like it better because the pink doesn't stand out too much.
Lette January 27th, 2004, 02:45 PM http://i19.ebayimg.com/01/i/01/38/ab/ac_1.JPG
I like the pink because it just adds a splash of color... but not too bright! :)
Nocona January 27th, 2004, 02:46 PM hmmm, if I had a girl, I would probably be tempted to get the pink, however, I'd probably go with the B&W.
sabrina January 27th, 2004, 03:42 PM My Ella bag arrived today. I like it. It is a little small, but nice for short trips. I have to send it back because the zipper is awful to zip up. They are supposed to fix it quickly.

Hey, I would like a set of those directions on how you made it. I would like a bag like that but just can not afford the price tag for one right now.
Lissa January 27th, 2004, 07:00 PM Hey, I would like a set of those directions on how you made it. I would like a bag like that but just can not afford the price tag for one right now.Okay, here goes. If any of this doesn't make any sense, let me know.
Materials
5/6 yard of material for the lining
1/3 yard for the top material of the outside
1/4 yard for the bottom material of the outside
Ribbon (if wanted, 1 yard)
2 yards of Heavy Duty Fusible Interfacing
Thread
1. Cut 4 squares (I made mine 18 inches by 18 inches). 2 will be out of the lining material and 2 will be out of the outside fabric(s). If you plan on making the outside two colors, then you will need to make 2 rectangles for the top and 2 rectangles for the bottom. (9 1/4 by 9 1/4 each) Then sew the two fabrics together to make a square that measures 18 by 18 finished.
2. Cut 4 straps. 2 will be out of the outside color and 2 will be of the lining.
3. Cut 2 pockets. They can be out of the lining or the outside material. If you want to make them flat then cut them each 18 by 8 inches. If you want one of them to have elastic at the top, cut that one 8 by 24 inches to allow for the extra width.
4. Apply fusible interfacing to all pieces except for the pockets. Follow manufacturers instructions.
5. Lining: Prepare flat pocket. Iron under a 1/4 inch seam allowance at the top and bottom of the long sides. Sew the top seam under. Place the pocket on the lining material. I placed mine with the top of the pocket 7 inches down from the top of the lining piece. Sew the bottom of the pocket onto the lining material. Sew 2 dividing lines vertically down the pockets.
6. Lining: Elastic Pockets. Iron under a 1/2 inch seam allowance at the top and a 1/4 inch seam allowance at the bottom of the long sides. Sew the top seam under. Thread 3/8 inch elastic through the top pocket and pin with a safety pin. Place the pocket on the lining material. I placed mine with the top of the pocket 7 inches down from the top of the lining piece. Sew the bottom of the pocket onto the lining material. Sew 2 dividing lines vertically down the pockets. Make sure you spread out the elastic to the tightness you would like.
7. Lining: Place the lining material, rights sides together, and sew 3 of the sides together. (Think U shape.) Leave the top edge raw.
8. Making the bottom flat. This is the part that was the most difficult to wrap my mind around. If you have any questions, please let me know. With the bag still right side out, open the bottom corners up at a perpendicular angle to the seams. When you do that you will have a triangle at each corner. Sew a line (it will make the bottom of the triangle) equal distances from each corner. Clip that triangle off. When you push the fabric out, you should have a nice flat bottom.
9. Outside: Place the outside material, rights sides together, and sew 3 of the sides together. (Think U shape.) Leave the top edge raw. If you use two fabrics and or a ribbon, sew each side together first. Then you can line up the edges for a clean look.
10. Making the bottom flat. Again, this is the part that was the most difficult to wrap my mind around. If you have any questions, please let me know. With the bag still right side out, open the bottom corners up at a perpendicular angle to the seams. When you do that you will have a triangle at each corner. Sew a line (it will make the bottom of the triangle) equal distances from each corner. Clip that triangle off. Turn right side out. When you push the fabric out, you should have a nice flat bottom.
11. Iron a 1/4 inch seam allowance at the top raw edge of the lining. After you put the crease in, you will have the wrong side of the lining touching the wrong side edge.
12. Iron a 1/4 inch seam allowance at the top raw edge of the outside material. After you put the crease in, you will have the wrong side of the outside material touching the wrong side edge.
13. Drop the lining inside the outside.
14. Straps: Iron 1/2 inch seam allowance on both sides of all 4 straps. Place the coordinating straps together. Sew a seam down both sides of the straps.
15. Closure: I used the lining material as straps. I used remnants to sew 2 finished 1/4 inch strips, about 10 inches long. You could use ribbon.
16. Pin the lining to the outside around the ironed down edge. Measure equal distances from sides and pin the straps in place in between the lining and the outside. In the center of both sides, pin the closure straps/ribbons.
17. Sew. I tripled stitched (sew, then back stitched, the sew over again) the handles and the tie strap.
FINISHED!
Good luck!
cimberdog January 28th, 2004, 10:22 AM Lissa, the bag you made looks terrific! Thank you for the instructions - I'm not sure I understand as I don't sew, but I may give it a shot. I need very specific instructions...I would love to atempt to make one. After all, I have two ISM diaper bags I could use as a reference!
~Tara~ January 28th, 2004, 11:26 AM Got this cool email today about this neat diaper bag.....WHY OH WHY am I jonesing for a new diaper bag. You girls are KILLING me ....lol
http://www.skiphop.com/flash/?sname=about
AmyLynn January 28th, 2004, 03:07 PM Harmonie - to me both bags are B&W......but get the pink for a splash of color, and it will coordinate with your little girl, who will be wearing pink once in a while, right?
Leslie January 28th, 2004, 03:56 PM Tara - I like the pink one! But I think that takes away the uni-sex feature of the bag!
~Jenn January 28th, 2004, 03:59 PM Tara - I like the pink one! But I think that takes away the uni-sex feature of the bag!
I love the pink one!
Amy January 28th, 2004, 04:09 PM The pink one is gorgeous...but I just don't see DH carrying a pink diaper bag. He prefers our dark blue EB bag, which is fine by me...if I can ever make up my mind on a new toile bag, he can have the other one full time!
~Tara~ January 28th, 2004, 06:32 PM I'm all about pink these days - so yeah I love that pink one too!!!!
harmonielyn January 28th, 2004, 09:39 PM I ordered the black bag with the little pink checkers just in the inside. The checkers outside will be black and white, better to match with my wardrobe but a little pink inside so it has a little color.
Lette January 28th, 2004, 09:40 PM I ordered the black bag with the little pink checkers just in the inside. The checkers outside will be black and white, better to match with my wardrobe but a little pink inside so it has a little color.
Sounds great!
Amy January 29th, 2004, 03:30 PM Harmonie, that sounds really cute!!
I've finally decided on a bag...now to see if you all think I'd be paying to much if I did BIN. It's an Ella Bag on Ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3456188347, and I want it in this pattern
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b4df09b3127cce87d50ac8bc790000001510
I emailed them about getting combined shipping to get the matching changing pad & mini cosmetic case, and they said that was fine.
The auction ends in 2 days....beginning price is $35, or BIN for $50. I'm tempted to BIN just to get it, and know I'm not paying more than that, but then again, I could bid the $35, and if it goes above $50, let it go since I can get it from the Ella Bags site for $55.
ack!!! I hate putting so much thought into this, but if I can save $15 I'd rather do it that way. sigh.....I think I'm just going to put in my bid, and see what happens. I've waited this long, what's two more days??
Brooke January 29th, 2004, 03:39 PM The auction ends in 2 days....beginning price is $35, or BIN for $50. I paid $49.95 for my BIN auction. So I don't think $50 is all that bad. I wouldn't pay more than that.
SarahK January 29th, 2004, 03:58 PM Amy, that bag is so pretty!!
Lette January 29th, 2004, 07:48 PM Guess What? She listed another one tonight...AND her buy in now price went up from her previous listing for the SAME bag! Before it was $46.95 and this one is $49.95. :owow: She must have increased it because I emailed her and told her I was looking for it! ... dang! How stupid was I?
http://images.andale.com/f2/102/129/8675236/1062037738524_Dfly_Wav_FR.JPG (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3453569932&category=15727&sspagename=STRK%3AMEBWA%3AIT&rd=1#ebayphotohosting)
I was even stupider because I JUST BOUGHT IT! Oh well...had to have it! I didn't want to wait another 9 days just to get overbid by someone!
Can't wait to get my bag!
Guess I went over the "proper value" limit just a teeny weeny bit!  Again.. HAD to have it! AM i nuts?
Ps.. did you girls get insurance on your bags?
Brooke January 29th, 2004, 08:11 PM Guess I went over the "proper value" limit just a teeny weeny bit!  Again.. HAD to have it! AM i nuts?
Ps.. did you girls get insurance on your bags?If you went over, so did I!
And, no, I didn't get insurance. I never do. One day I won't get something and I'll be sorry!
Amy January 29th, 2004, 09:54 PM Lette, I'm so glad you got your bag!! Yes, I will get insurance on mine....we sell a lot of NASCAR die cast on Ebay, and I always recommend it, so for me, anything over $10 or so is worth getting the insurance.
Lette January 30th, 2004, 09:06 AM I got the insurance, which I don't usually do. God forbid something happened to MY BAG!
Oh, and she already has the same bag up for bid again!
Nocona January 30th, 2004, 09:14 AM Yes, I got the insurance. For $1.30, I think it's worth it.
I'm still awaiting the arrival of my bag from her.
Cortney January 30th, 2004, 09:25 AM I'm gonna make one of those bags tonight!:jump:
Lette January 30th, 2004, 09:52 AM I'm gonna make one of those bags tonight!:jump:
What kind of material/pattern are you using?? You gotta give us the details.. ya know??
Cortney January 30th, 2004, 10:24 AM I'm using the directions Lissa posted. I'm not sure of the material, but I'll be heading to the fabric store within an hour so I'll let you know. If it turns out as planned, then I'll prob. make more for baby shower gifts.
Cortney January 30th, 2004, 10:25 AM BTW, Lissa- how long did it take you to make your bag?
Lissa January 30th, 2004, 10:28 AM Courtney, good luck! It took me about 3 hours with doing dinner, feeding and bath time. I hope to go faster now that I know what the heck I am doing! OOOH, I can't wait to see how yours turns out!!!
SarahK January 30th, 2004, 11:19 AM I want to make one too...but first we have to put away all the Christmas stuff that is sitting out on the table...I guess my reward for putting that stuff away will be dragging my sewing stuff out!
Cortney January 30th, 2004, 01:43 PM Sarah- get that stuff put away so you can make one too!!!! :victory:
AahRee January 30th, 2004, 02:08 PM My dad's a hick. My mom wanted to name me Crystal Dawn :puke:
Your mom and my DH would have made a scary couple. He wanted to name Katie *Crystal Lynn* :puke:
AahRee January 30th, 2004, 02:10 PM Hmmm... I thought I just posted this, but I guess I didn't. Thanks for the directions, Lissa! I'm going to make one, too. I have some *summer bounty toile* fabric (identical to my I'm Still ME bag) that I'm going to use to make another bag for a shower gift (if it turns out okay). My friend drooled over my I'm Still ME bag, so it will be fun to give her one of her own!
Cortney January 30th, 2004, 09:57 PM I made one!!!!! :jump: The digi camera is at Josh's work so I'll have to take a picture tommorow. The top half is a blue, yellow and white plaid and the bottom is a blue- there is a white ribbon running in between the two patterns/colors. I didn't do a closure on the top - I made it more of a plain tote bag for me. I messed up a little and made the outside a little larger to where I had to gather it a little on the side while sewing it. But I think it looks pretty good- nothing you wouldn't notice if I didn't mention it! :)
Lissa January 30th, 2004, 10:22 PM Ooh, Cortney, I can't wait to see it!! Post pics as soon as you can!
Anne, you are welcome! Let me know if you have any questions.
SarahK January 30th, 2004, 10:25 PM It sounds pretty, Cortney!
Isaiah's Momma January 31st, 2004, 01:10 PM I got an Amy Coe diaper bag at target yesterday for $3.50! Thats my kind of diaper bag. I is a tote style bag with a nylon interior and chaging pad and it has 6 small pockets inside plus a small zipper pouch for mommy's things.
Nocona January 31st, 2004, 10:28 PM I got one like that a few months ago, Naomi :)
Ok, so all you seasoned ebayers.... the diaper bag lady said on Monday am that my bag would ship "promptly". I get my mail today and it's still NOT HERE! So I sent her an e-mail to see when she shipped it since I haven't seen it. She sent me an e-mail that said it shipped priority on 1/30. That was yesterday -- Friday. Is that considered prompt? It's not in my book, but I'm very much an ebay rookie.
Amy January 31st, 2004, 11:30 PM Nocona, was it a custom order bag or pre made? Did her auction give specific ship dates? To me, that is pretty quick, especially if it was coming from the midwest or northeast...both areas have been hit with severe weather this week. I know when we list things on ebay to sell, our auctions state that we ship on Tuesdays or Fridays. When did you finalize payment for the bag?
I've had people give us raving feedback for 'prompt shipment' when stuff shipped 4-5 days after the auction ended/payment finalized, simply because we ship on our stated days. (With a baby it's easier for me to have set days to ship stuff at the post office.)
Also, with her sending it priority yesterday, you should have it Mon or Tues...that's only a week after the auction ended...so I'd consider it prompt.
Nocona January 31st, 2004, 11:34 PM She is in NY and I am in MO. I finalized my payment 2 hours after the auction ended on Sunday night. She didn't specify a ship date... just stated in her e-mail on Monday morning that it would ship "promptly". I assumed that would be Monday or Tuesday as it wasn't a customized order and that's prompt to me.
I figured I'd check before I sent any nastiness her way
Nocona January 31st, 2004, 11:34 PM I got to see Brandi's Ella bag in person today. Very nice :aok: Very roomy :aok:
Isaiah's Momma February 1st, 2004, 12:54 AM I got one like that a few months ago, Naomi :)
Did you like it? The one I got is the Annabelle tote. I just make sure the lining on my bags isn't vinal (yuck!) and thats good for me. I was watching a few on e bay though, Id love a bag with a western/rodeo themed print. Im up to 6 bags now, though 2 are the freebies from the hospital and 2 are the cheep cute POOH ones I registered for (what WAS I THINKING?) :wtf: . I don't use the hospital ones and the small pooh one I use to send with my mom or take on walks in the neighbor hood and the large pooh one only gets used on over night trips, though that may change :)
Nocona February 1st, 2004, 10:35 AM I've only used it once. Not sure which one it is. It's about 1 1/2 feet long and a foot high. It's red. 2 pockets inside. I didn't like it when I used it... doesn't have much room at all. Good thing it was only $3.50
Isaiah's Momma February 1st, 2004, 12:29 PM Hum mines very roomy, but its big too. Its cream colored with blue and green trim.
~Jenn February 1st, 2004, 12:52 PM Man, I still want one of those Ella bags!
Lissa February 1st, 2004, 04:18 PM Okay, I am on a diaper bag making freezy. I went shopping this weekend and got enough material to make 6 more bags! Plus my cousin got material for 2 bags -- I'll make them while she plays with Alex!!!
Today during nap, I cut and fused the material for 2 more bags. I'll post pics when I have finished them. One is for me and one is for a baby shower gift this weekend.
Cortney, don't forget to take a pic of the bag you made. :)
Cortney February 1st, 2004, 04:50 PM Cortney, don't forget to take a pic of the bag you made. :)
I will tonight after the superbowl! I'm heading to the store tommorow to get fabric to make more bags too!! :)
Brooke February 2nd, 2004, 01:54 PM I just wanted to update on what I think of my bag. As a reminder, this is the one I bought.
I really like it! I think it's alot easier to find the things I need in it than in the other bag. I used to dig through the other bag and end up dumping it out to find what I was looking for. Now, all the small stuff in is a pocket so I can just reach in and get it.
Also, I think it's a great size but I pack light. Right now I have 4 diapers, the Huggies hard wipes case, small powder, small diaper rash cream, my wallet, keys, cellphone, digital camera, handi-wipes, tampons and panty liners, kids knife, fork, and spoon, and a bib. And I still have lots of room.
http://i15.ebayimg.com/01/i/01/2d/ce/83_1.JPG
Lette February 2nd, 2004, 02:10 PM She didn't specify a ship date... just stated in her e-mail on Monday morning that it would ship "promptly". I assumed that would be Monday or Tuesday as it wasn't a customized order and that's prompt to me.
I figured I'd check before I sent any nastiness her way
I guess that means I'll be waiting a bit for my bag too since I got the same email. (same seller )
Nocona.. let us know when you get it! :)
Amy February 2nd, 2004, 02:56 PM Brooke, I'm glad you still like your bag!
Well, I ordered an Ella bag yesterday...got it on Ebay as a BIN for $50. I was hoping to get it for only $35, but bidding went up to $49, so I said forget and just got another one as BIN. Can't wait to get it!!
Isaiah's Momma February 2nd, 2004, 06:03 PM I was looking at the pink bags on e bay, soo cute, but DH says :nono: pink.
Nocona February 2nd, 2004, 07:40 PM My bag came today! :jump:

I just threw some stuff in there to see how it was...
4 diapers
travel wipes
full size changing pad
sippy
my wallet and cell phone
some fruit snacks
a pair of Matthew's socks
There's lots more room for snacks. I really don't think the bag would do for 2 kids. It's much smaller than I thought it would be, but I think it will work nice for me. The top pic is it zipped with all that stuff inside.
Amy February 2nd, 2004, 07:55 PM Nocona, I love the bag!! Thanks for mentioning that you don't think it would work for 2 kids...I'm really hoping my Ella does. I keep thinking that it should, because if I'm going to be out all day with both kids I'll take my Gap backpack; otherwise, for quick trips to the mall or church, I won't need nearly as much 'stuff'. Even better, my mom stockpiles diapers/wipes/rash ointment, so I don't need that stuff when we visit her!
kim February 2nd, 2004, 09:30 PM oooh, i like that!!!
Lissa February 3rd, 2004, 12:11 AM Here are the two I made tonight...
harmonielyn February 3rd, 2004, 01:09 AM Heres mine! I cant wait to get it.
Ashley February 3rd, 2004, 01:13 AM Lissa I love them!!! I want to make my own, but I am having a hard time understanding your instructions for the bottom. (I just can't picture it! )
SarahK February 3rd, 2004, 09:48 AM Harmonie ~ That's a pretty bag!
Lissa ~ You made some great bags--what a great baby shower gift!!
Nichole February 3rd, 2004, 11:47 AM Nocona, that bag is sweet! :) I'm torn about what to do, though. It doesn't make much sense to buy something that won't work very well for 2 kidlets. I really would like a smaller bag for now, though.
Hmmm... maybe get this one to use through the spring and summer and then worry about a bigger one after Boo arrives... :supergrin
Nocona February 3rd, 2004, 11:54 AM That's what you should do, Nichole!
Colleen February 3rd, 2004, 02:57 PM Nocona:
I have my Land's End little tripper, and I can stuff that thing to the gills! When I measured the bag you got, it seemed to be little bigger. This would be my quick trip bag.
This is the stuff I would put in...do you think it would fit? (I also carry a purse.)
6 diapers (3 large, 3 small)
pampers soft wipes travel pack
cloth diaper (burp cloth)
extra newborn/infant outfit
changing pad
bottle
8 oz can rtf formula
8 oz sippy
4 pacis
snackies
2 disposible bibs
I am going to email her to see if she can increase the size by 2 or 3 inches all around..... that could do the trick.
Colleen February 4th, 2004, 09:03 PM I am going to email her to see if she can increase the size by 2 or 3 inches all around..... that could do the trick.
I emailed her, and while she can change the strap length, she cannot adjust the overall dimensions of the bag. Crap crap crap! :mope:
Lissa February 4th, 2004, 09:22 PM Colleen, the overall bag dimensions can EASILY be changed on a bag like this. I have made two different sizes so far. Can you sew or can your mom? grandma? These bags are easy to sew. The most difficult part is cutting/fusing and aligning.
Nocona February 4th, 2004, 10:22 PM I think that would fit, Colleen. Not much more than that, though.
Brandi Jo February 4th, 2004, 10:28 PM I totally think that would fit, Colleen
Nocona February 4th, 2004, 10:44 PM It's a little smaller than yours, Brandi. No way would Riley's turtle fit in it
Brandi Jo February 4th, 2004, 10:49 PM Oh no! We couldn't have it then....we can go no where without TurTULL!
Colleen February 5th, 2004, 09:37 AM Colleen, the overall bag dimensions can EASILY be changed on a bag like this. I have made two different sizes so far. Can you sew or can your mom? grandma? These bags are easy to sew. The most difficult part is cutting/fusing and aligning.
My MIL sews. I might go to Joann's and see if there is some fabric I like. And I'll send her your directions to see if she's want to try it.
I've sewn valances, pillows, easy stuff like that. I'd never attempt this on my own.
Colleen February 5th, 2004, 09:38 AM I think that would fit, Colleen. Not much more than that, though.
Thanks Nocona. I'd hate to spend the $$$ on the bag, and find that it's too small. Especially since her stuff is "final sale." That's a lot of $$$ to swallow on a bag.
Lissa February 5th, 2004, 12:59 PM My MIL sews. I might go to Joann's and see if there is some fabric I like. And I'll send her your directions to see if she's want to try it.
I've sewn valances, pillows, easy stuff like that. I'd never attempt this on my own.
Oh, Colleen, you could do this! It's really not much harder than a pillow. I promise! But if not, I bet your MIL would do it for you. If you have any questions, let me know. :)
Ashley February 5th, 2004, 01:23 PM It's not harder then a pillow!?!? I might be able to do it then!! Yipppee!!
Colleen February 5th, 2004, 07:04 PM Lissa: Thanks for the vote of confidence! :) However, I think I may just see if my MIL will want to do it if my other option doesn't work out....
Colleen February 5th, 2004, 07:05 PM Okay, I found another bag designer (there are a lot on Ebay, aren't there? ) This bag is a few inches bigger in height and width, and I think it'll do the trick. I emailed her to see if she can do a zipper closure and lenghten the straps. Wish me luck!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2376862347&category=15558
Lissa February 5th, 2004, 07:33 PM Ashley, you can do it!
Colleen, I love those bags! That is great. But I still KNOW that you can do it!!!
harmonielyn February 8th, 2004, 03:50 PM I got my diaper bag and I love it! I can put the same amount of things in it without a big bulky diaper bag.
Lette February 8th, 2004, 10:32 PM Forgot to post my backpack I got last week. It's definitely smaller than your average tote diaper bag, but I love it! We'll see how much I can cram in there! Probably not worth the $50 I spent. Oh well... I keep telling myself its a designer bag.
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b4dc29b3127cceb87be34549a60000001610 (http://java_script_:openSlideWin(1,%20'67b0de21b3d88a4925 d8',%2048);/)
harmonielyn February 9th, 2004, 12:28 AM DH went out with my diaper bag today. I didnt think about that when I ordered it. I guess the black is better than the pink. I got my bag on Friday and I still havent gotten to show it off. I didnt think about him carrying it until he came home with DD today. He had gone to a cub scout banquet. I asked him if anyone asked why he was carrying a purse. He said he has no problem carrying my bag around. Gotta love DH.
Lyndee February 23rd, 2004, 09:32 AM DH was stopped by a male cop in a patrol car as DH was walking with DD to the mall last Saturday.
The cop stopped and asked
"Would you mind telling me where you got your clear backpack?"
We use a clear backpack rather than an traditional diaper bag.
Man, it's so not fashionable but DH does get asked this question a lot!!
I bought it at the grocery store!
Amy March 2nd, 2004, 07:38 PM bringing this back up...I got my Ella Bag yesterday!!! It is just gorgeous...I'll post pictures soon. I splurged and got the matching mini cosmetic case and changing pad as well.
Here's the pic from their website, and this is the same pattern I got
http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/47b4df09b3127cce87d50ac8bc790000001510
I am amazed at how much I can cram in there!! Three pockets are elasticized, and three are not, plus I got a pacifier/key loop. Today I had to be out for a while, and I managed to fit
two disposable diapers
wipes case
desitin & gallon size ziploc bag
wallet
changing pad
cosmetic case with cell phone, lipstick, calendar, pens, nail files, clippers and teething tablets
two novels (~ 300 pages each)
Gerber folding bowl thingie (holds two jars of baby food, bib and spoon)
sippy cup
this will definitely work for 2 babies. Generally I wouldn't have the books with me, but I was almost finished with one, and would be in a place where I needed something to read for 3 hours....had to have reading material! Still not sure it was worth the $90 I spent (for all three pieces) but it was my Valentine's gift from DH, so I'll take it! Plus, it'll be a gorgeous tote after my diaper bag days are over!
Ashley March 2nd, 2004, 10:08 PM VERY PRETTY!!!! I am dying to get one!
tuhraycee March 3rd, 2004, 03:44 PM Just finished reading this whole thread (who needs early maternity leave when you have the internet! ) and you ladies have me craving one of these bags! My son isn't even here yet either...not a good sign!
I have a question though - is it considered odd to have a son but carry a bag with pink on it? :dunno: Or will anyone notice?
:) Tracy
Nocona March 3rd, 2004, 04:21 PM I don't think so. Mine is the green with ladybugs and dragonflies on it... not exactly manly  I think it's for you, not for him... it just holds all his crap :)
harmonielyn March 3rd, 2004, 04:25 PM people will just think its your purse. No one thought my bag was a diaper bag. Everyone kept talking about my nice new purse.
SarahK March 3rd, 2004, 06:08 PM Amy, your bag is so pretty--I'm glad you like it so much!
Shanna March 3rd, 2004, 10:57 PM I found the dragonfly fabric today :aok: I'm going to make a bag out of it and see how it turns out... heh.. I'm hopeful
Isaiah's Momma March 4th, 2004, 10:05 AM I liked the pink bags too, but DH said no way are you carrying a pink bag! Im looking for one with a cowboy/horses print now as Im a horse nut so that fits me well.
kim March 4th, 2004, 10:07 AM naomi, i saw this last night!!!! funny you should mention cowboys!

tuhraycee March 4th, 2004, 11:36 AM I think it's for you, not for him... it just holds all his crap :)
Just what I was thinking! :aok:
I think I had a dream about bags last night...
Shanna March 4th, 2004, 11:55 AM Thanks, Lissa :) I'm using your instructions and a pattern I found... hopefully will turn out okay!
JillMelissa March 15th, 2004, 02:09 PM I'm so excited, my mom bought me an Ella Bag for spring!! I can't wait to get it. Here's a pic!

redhairedgirl March 19th, 2004, 10:00 PM Have I been living in a box???? Why didn't I come across this thread sooner???
Lissa, thanks for taking all that time to write those instructions! I'm going to have to head to the fabric store as I've been debating about having something more feminine for myself. No offense to all the males in this house, but I need something girly!
Mandy
Lissa March 20th, 2004, 11:05 AM Mandy, you are welcome! Good luck with the bag! I had a difficult time visioning the bottom until I made one. I have some pics of how the bottom is done -- if you'd like I can email them to you.
Brandi March 22nd, 2004, 04:42 PM Does anyone have a tote by this seller: trephotogirl?
I am seriously looking at one of her bags and I just wonder if it's a quality seller.
Thanks!
Tara April 16th, 2004, 10:32 PM  I got my Ella Bag today!! I love, love, love it!!! I will post pictures tomorrow!
Tara April 17th, 2004, 12:37 PM Ok, here are three pics of my Ella bag. The mono'd side, the reverse side and the inside. I have pllenty of room for all of my DS's stuff and mine too. It has 5 dipes, an extra outfit, changing pad, snacks, wipes, a little pouch with grooming supplies(for him), Tylenol, a sippy cup, my wallet, my cell and my keys. I have plenty of room for a little toy or toy also. THe only thing I want to make and add to it is a cell phone holder to attach to the inside. And, I kinda wish I would have got the vinyl lining on the inside for leaks!

Alysia April 23rd, 2004, 11:37 AM Oh my lord, my DH would stuff diapers, formula, and a burp cloth down the front of his pants and carry them around that way before he would carry my toile bag!
OMG! :rotflmao:
Im just reading this thread for the first time! Wow there are some really nice diaper bags in here. We haven't really used our diaper bags much. We have an all in one changing station thingie that we keep in the car that has diapers, wipes etc in it and we use that most of the time.
I do have two Carter's John Lennon bags. A smaller one that we left at the ILs house since they watch Genavieve during the week and might need one if they go somewhere and a larger one.
And we also have the Large Eddie Bauer Metro bag.
Nothing fancy here!
tuhraycee April 26th, 2004, 07:30 PM Been a while since I visited this thread - I actually have a baby to go with my diaper bags now!
I bought this bag off eBay and it arrived the day my son was born!
http://i24.ebayimg.com/02/i/01/70/63/0e_1_b.JPG
Now all our other bags are getting neglected!
