I bank at M&I bank and I also work there...so I get lots of perks. But where do you bank and what do you like best and worst about it.

We bank at Washington Mutual...it's okay--nothing special, but the local branch has a driveup ATM...that's how we decided on them.
I used to bank by mail at USAA and I loved it--they reimbursed ATM fees.

Bank of America, I like how there are ATMs every where we dont have to look hard for one, and like Sarah said we love the drive up ATM the only one in our town so we went there.

Bank One. It was Dereck's bank before I even knew him so we just stuck with it. We bank online and deposit through the ATM for no fees.

We have everything through Merrill Lynch. A little bit of an annoyance b/c we have to mail in checks that we receive, but virtually everything we do is online or already set up for direct deposit, so it's not too bad. Luckily my office building has a local bank's ATM, and they don't charge fees for anyone who is in the building, so I can use their ATM all the time.
It's kind of nice to have all of our banking done with the same brokerage firm.

I bank with Bank of America. When we living in New York for 2.5 years we had to switch to Charter One, a small, private bank which I hated. I love that there are BOA's everywhere and my favorite is the online banking - especially the online bill pay - I never have to write a check (or spend $ on postage) again!!! :jump2:

We're with Bank of America. We have family in other states and we wanted to have access to our ATM's when we visit them.

Washington Mutual is where we bank. I've never had any problems with them, thank goodness.

We bank through Arkansas Federal Credit Union and First Resource Credit Union. I like the online banking features of AFCU, but they are horrible to deal with and have crazy rules and regs.... First Resource isn't too bad, we recently started banking with them for our mortgage and home buying.

I've banked with pretty much every bank out there.
Since we moved back to Washington State last year, we have started using our Boeing Employee's Credit Union accounts exclusively. Before that we were with Wells Fargo (which I think is the WORST company ever..), Washington Mutual, Bank of America, Bank United and a federal credit union that was just local to the town I grew up in. Out of those Washington Mutual was definitely my favorite.
But, we definitely get more perks with our BECU account.

We bank with Commerce Bank. I believe that it's only in the North East (PA, NJ,and maybe NY) It's a GREAT bank! They have excellent hours, the people are so nice and I have never ever had a problem.

We bank with Huntington Bank...I think it's small, maybe only in Indiana, but we love the service we get there, and almost all of their ATM's are drive throughs. We used to be with National City, but they screwed up several things (like LOST a $3000 deposit for 3 days one time) and the service was pretty bad, so we switched.

We bank with a local credit union. Gulf Power Employees Credit Union. DH has had an account with them since he was 3...granted that was a savings account, but still....anyways they have great service and are really easy to use. The only thing I wish they had, would be online banking....but oh well

Washington Mutual, though I still have a checking account with Wells Fargo.

Bank of America. They are fine. I really do love the free online bill pay though. It's so convenient!

I bank at Charter One. They are one of the only banks in my area that return your checks for free. I also enjoy being able to go online to see what debits and credits cleared through my account.

I am in the process of switching banks. I am at Wahington Mutual right now, but our branch doesn't even have a drive thru. I am switching to SunTrust, which has been a nightmare already.

Good luck Lori with Suntrust. I banked with them for 4 years and they lost a couple of big deposits and did not post deposits for 4 days ( local check from mil for $100). Needless to say I ended up with 4 NSF fees from the last big deposit ( around 5k) and that is when we switched to the local credit union (The Credit Union for Robertson County) and love it! Daniel has had a checking acct there for 8 years and when I walk in they know me by name. Our deposits are posted immediately, even on Saturdays. The only problem is that they only have 3 ATM's in the area so if I need cash, I will go to a store and buy a pack of gum to get cash back.
ChristiH- does your husband work for Gulf Power?

State Employees Credit Union in NC. I don't know specifically what I like about them except usually you get better interest rates on your checking and savings accounts and lower interest rates on your loans.

we use a local bank, only three branches. i don't worry about atm's as i charge everything to get points on southwest airlines :D, but one of the atm's is on my way to work and it's a drive thru :aok:. they do have online banking as well.
i got tired of the enormous fees i was paying with Fleet bank! (which has gobbled up most banks around here.) they actually had the cajones to charge me $6 for a money order! i yanked all my money out the next day.

We just switched banks this past week actually!
For years I've banked with Sovereign Bank (I especially liked their totally free checking!). But the service at our local branch sucked big time. We've had it with them and just switched to Commerce Bank. They have totally free checking too....but they are so much nicer AND more importantly their hours rock!!! They are open until the evening on Saturdays and are even open on Sundays as well (lobby and the drive up!!!). Never heard of a bank with better hours!! :)
Our mortgage is thru Washington Mutual.

I bank at Bank of America. Love the online bill pay!
DH banks at the Bank of Nova Scotia aka Scotia Bank...yup we have 2 different banks in 2 different countries.
But the good thing is BOA has a recipricoal agreement with Scotiabank so we can use each other's ATM and not get dinged for it

Same here. I don't know anyone in south Jersey that doesn't bank with them... they are taking over the world I think. But... they give out tasty red lollipops so they have my undying loyalty!

Wells Fargo is where we bank
My only complaint is that, when we signed up for our accounts, it wasn't Wells Fargo, it was a local bank..then WF bought them out, and started charging us a monthly fee, when the account was a free account when we signed up...
