Yes I am insane :rotflmao: but I allowed Jessica to invite 16 girls over for her 11th bday party. Thankfully MIL is keeping both my boys overnight. The party is from 6:30pm Fri til 11am Sat. Here is what I've planned so far:

hot dogs, chips, etc for supper
:bday: cake of course :)
swimming - our pool is pretty small so maybe only half of them will probably go in at once, but maybe not LOL
moonbounce (my DH's new business venture with his boss :aok: means free access  )
An ice cream sundae bar with lots of fun toppings (prob do this later in the evening)
girly movies and
a craft - I'm trying to find CHEAP white pillowcases this week, and then we'll use fabric paint (we already have tons) to make cool pillowcases and maybe have everyone sign each other's
a hula hoop game that we played at youth group in church last year - it's soo fun. Two teams line up across from each other and hold hands. Each time has their own hula hoop and has to pass the hoop down their line without breaking the line.
charades - always fun!
freeze dance - we have played this at her parties for several years now, as we're waiting for parents to pick up. It's a huge hit!
games available for them if they want, ie, Twister, Twister Moves, Uno Attack, etc.
Pancakes for breakfast
We usually do a pinata too, but we don't really have the money right now. It's usually close to $40 to get the pinata and get enough stuff to stuff it KWIM? Any other ideas????? I can't wait - I know it will be lots of fun, but certainly an eye opener as well. My baby is growing up!!!:tear:

Wow, you are brave!

I think everything sounds awesome!! I never went to such cool slumber parties when I was that age. They are going to love it! I can't even think of anything else you could add to it. :dunno:

Good luck!

Wow! You are brave!! I teach 7th grade so I know that age group. Sounds like you have some great activities planned. Definitely do the craft project early enough so it will have time to dry. Maybe instead of cake and the sundae bar do cupcakes and then they can decorate them while they have their sundaes. They love doing that kind of thing. Have a contest for the craziest cupcake or something.

Thanks for posting!!! Jessica's big party is tonight!! I am excited. I made up the goody bags last night. I got some incredible deals on candy and some neat pencils/erasers, stickers, etc. Unfortunately our pool is green!!! I am so upset. I shocked it last night and am praying praying praying that it clears up in the next 8 hours. I bought a huge tub of ice cream and have a bunch of toppings for sundaes. I am picking up the cake after lecture. I still need posterboard to make a big poster of the RULES! hehe DH totally helped me out yesterday while I was in lab - he did several of the major things on my list. He washed the kitchen floor, vacuumed the living room (even UNDER the furniture:eek: I am glad I wrote UNDER THE FURNITURE on my list LOL!), and got all the toys out of the living room. WOOHOO! I was shocked. I found some magnets for the girls to decorate and make, and then at Walmart they have those fuzzy folders (the kind you can color) on clearance from $1.44 each to 25 cents!!!! So those are the crafts we're doing. I still need to make the charades papers, but I can do that while the girls are swimming or in the moonbounce if necessary. Anyway, I gotta get to class, but I will be sure to tell you all about it in a day or two!

Those are just a few of the many pics we took. We got some incredible footage of the girls dancing and playing charades. Really funny stuff LOL! The girls had opened up a bit by the time we did charades and that helped even more. Everyone had a wonderful time and even though I only got 3 hours of sleep, I can't wait to do it again hehe. Good thing birthdays are only once a year though!

I think it wound up being 12 girls altogether. Our pool turned green (can't remember if I mentioned that) so no swimming - though I'm sure most of the girls would have gone in anyway LOL Coloring the fuzzy posters was a great ice breaker and ate some time hehe. It worked out really well - no squabbles, no one got injured , several of the girls told me how cool I was :welcome: and indicated that their moms would NEVER allow them to have a party like this. Jessica was a bit disrespectful and mouthy to me a couple times, and I was (pleasantly) surprised to hear a couple girls admonish her for that.

We had plenty of food and beverages. The ice cream sundaes were a big hit. We watched 2 movies - Ella Enchanted and Save the Last Dance (which I was a bit leery of allowing them to watch, but a few of them had already seen it (I didn't take their words for it - I quizzed them LOL - I'm not THAT naive!). It has a good bit of cursing in it and the basic kissy scenes with one suggestive scene that cuts off before anything happens. I used that to my advantage and made it into a character building discussion :angel1: I couldn't help myself. One of the characters is a teenage mom and has a rough life. We briefly talked about premarital sex and promiscuity and the consequences. I was a bit surprised by some of the comments these girls had though - such as, "I wish that were me" when the female characters were being kissed and stuff like that. :welcome:

Jessica's friend Tori kept making some comments during the film about interraccial dating (one of the huge themes in the movie) and one of the girls there was black. Tori kept repeating "That's not right!" and Kortney kept asking why. They got into a bit of a discussion about that. I kept completely out of it since they were handling it just fine (I was impressed!) and I didn't feel it was appropriate for me to give my opinion. Of course I would have stepped in if necessary but like I said, they were very adult about it!

I was a bit irritated bc two girls had to be picked up at 7am I could have said no (they asked if it was ok) but they would have had to leave Fri night if I had said no and I would have felt bad. I was sooooo tired though since we got to sleep at 3:30am. I got an hour and a half nap in the afternoon though so that helped.

So that's the condensed version of the party. It was wonderful and I am so glad! Thanks for your tips and prayers
